A Start Of The End Poem by Mary Vale

A Start Of The End

Once
when you were young
and free
you would believe.

Once
when you were young
and free
you would dream.

But then once
is replaced by the life
and the raw
reality
stealing every
possibility
of vanity

robbs you of your belief

of your dreams

and you're left with
grief…

Sadness
Poverty
Darkness
Robbery

Guilt
Fear
They build
and a tear

is falling down your wrinkled skin

Is that how it's been?

And then you know
the sadness and the poverty,
the darkness and the robbery

are now your life that's ending

now is the start of the ending.
