A Story Poem by Lau Jane

I came home from school to see my dalmation,
she was my favourite
her name was bessy

i called her name, no pup in sight
my mother told me Bessy had died

Three years later i came home
from boarding a school
drove out into the paddock to saddle up my horse

Skyline was not seen so i called my father
father said he was sold and he would find me another

for my love of animals slowly decreased.
i enjoy their company though they all seem to decease.

For my chickens and ducks, then the calf-chopsticks and pipi.

My one true love has gone away. Need to find an animal that will live longer than i. This way i shall not need to cry.
