A Suffering Poem by Kristina Tann

A Suffering

Tempting is the light
That I see so bright
Through a curse, a spell
Captive and not well for now

I'm a troubled soul
Trying to behold
All the praise and fame
But it's a solitary game of kinds

Searching for a meaning
For my quiet healing
And a purpose in disguise
But I only recognise this trouble that I have

For an honest bet
Least I don't forget
I'm a mile beyond
What seems like borrowed grief

Nothing to achieve
As I try to grieve
My freedom gone to waste
A chain around my waist and neck and wrists

It's woven, intertwined
It pulls me from behind
And leaves a mark
A path so dark I'm almost blind

Redemption, resurrection
Rebirth, a new protection
I grasp and gasp for air
A momentary despair is here in the now

And then I see the light
It's shining so so bright
I breathe in and I live
The troubles that I give some thought

Just give it up
It's not a trap
This pain will go away
It's gone
It's gone
It's gone
I wait and I'm reborn.
