A Sullen Fate Poem by Geraldine Fernandez

A Sullen Fate

My heart sighs faintly
As my life moves shakily
Facing such a gloomy day
Without lady luck on the way.

Mortified tears pour down like rain
Enduring excruciating pain
Evanescent hope soon will refrain
From fighting cynicism and staying sanguine.

I have no more strength to endure living
In a world of doom that chokes your breathing
Yet I am daunted of dying and leaving
Scared I am to let my life go fading.

Agonies and fears struck my sanity
As my aching mind went astray
Oh, good God, is it my destiny?
If it is, then let me stand still till my last day.

My heart bleeds profusely
Weak from overwhelming misery
Let the pains end I pray
Thus, I come face to face with doom’s day.

Such a sullen fate
I neither love nor hate
To smell, taste and feel my death
Shudders me till I lost my last breath.
