A Sunrise In The New World Poem by Alex Fradkin

A Sunrise In The New World

We greeted the sunrise together with you on the edge of frontiere.
A daughter of Iroquois tribe and an envoy of Old World sat near.
You cannot see children of old Hiawatha, just stars slowly dimming...
And ranks of the redcoats are hidden with mist from the ol' Boston creeks.

O, heavily tread their rough army boots upon innocent cruel lands.
Look! Tis an avalanche creeping from East to the West bank of realm.
And we stand betwixt: bewildered, devoured with happiest dreams.
We've thrown at the mercy of woe all that's de trop. And now betwixt we stand.
