A Sustained Life Poem by dave lessard

A Sustained Life

Father, you sustain my life,
when things in life get tough;
when there's too much strife,
when the roads get rough.
When the day's too dark,
when the storm's too strong;
I hear a chirping meadowlark,
I hear heaven's song.
Father, you sustain my life,
Your grace is now sufficient;
giving me a precious wife,
subdued what was deficient.
Changed me from a troubled man,
took the burdens all away;
now I can see just where I stand,
as I kneel to pray.
Father, you sustain my life,
and made it all worthwhile;
You cast aside the sharp-edged knife,
and caused my soul to smile.
