A Thin Blue Line Poem by Sharon Ellis

A Thin Blue Line

GOD has placed me, where I am;
Serve and Protect, my fellow-man.
Risk my life, save the one;
who cries for help, depended on.
I raised my hand; I took an Oath;
the good, the bad; I'm here for both.
One supports, the others hate;
but I cannot, discriminate.
I must respond, assist them all;
do my best; when they call.
No time to be, a human-being;
this uniform, is all they're seeing.
It is uncertain, if on this date;
my future holds, a certain fate.
Work this badge, I must be brave;
should I go home, or in a grave.
Living in, the Shadow of Death;
it's my calling, till' my last breath.
I'll give my life, yes, this I'll do;
'Why? ' you ask. 'Because I love you! '
Though my life's, not worth a dime;
for you I'll walk, this thin blue line.
