A Thought Poem by Aimee Pruitt

A Thought

A quickening deep in my soul.
A quiet pulsation that will forever throb.
A heartbeat that thunders like a drum roll.
A single word that has a timeless meaning.

Life! It runs through each one of my veins.
Passion races to each of my nerve-endings,
In a somber chant that stirs the blood.
Mightier than a joyful carol,
Time can no longer cause me any pain.

One symbol that brings peace to my restless mind.
Five points it has, and an all encompassing womb.
Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit.
Entwined in a fluid mass of lines.
How can one thing represent everything so well?
My birth, My life, My death.
