A Treasure No Less Worthless - Poem by Emmanuel Dika

A matter arisen amidst us
Absurb to think, so abysmal it is
Calling for an attention to action
But a response so odd of we
To fold arms and watch
Abetting the stupidity of an act
Even as justice abdicates
And am no less hurting
For our future isn't safe from the claws of evil that marauds.

A heart in travails
Its beauty now a shadow I see
Its tender skin devoured ferociously
Trauma clutches and won't let alone
Addled she lay abashed
Wishing death kissed her sooner than fate
Abased her eye ever hurting, swollen, reddened
Its tears ceaselessly flow
How she's preserved dignity jealously to loose it as a whore
And I don't pity but provoked
Isn't she no more worth we assume
To labour in pain and suffer a shame?
A treasure no less worthless
Except aboard a bed our lust fed
And await another election to be favoured her vote
While doing nothing to save her from marauding wolves
Who deathly rape, how abstruse_ a truth so acrid.
