A Vampire's Kiss Poem by DiAnne Douglass

A Vampire's Kiss

Rating: 4.5

Sharp pain in my neck
Can't turn my head away
From his terrifying beauty
A wonderful, painful sensation courses through me
Surely this must be a dream

His beautiful black eyes captivated me
His silky soft voice lured me in
All the legends and warnings in the world
Could not have prepared me for this

The danger my instincts told me he presented
Flew from my mind at the sound of his voice
Softly calling out to me
After them flew all my of sense and reasoning

His icy cold touch against my skin
Reminded me of the danger he held
Bringing me back to reality
Alas! It was too late!

His lips claimed my neck
His fangs pierced my skin
I longed to cry out but no sound came
It was agony, torture, demise!

Here he was, draining me of my strength
My very life
And all I could think about
Was wanting to be with him
Of having this moment never end

Sharp pain in my neck
Can't turn my head
Tears spring unbidden to my eyes
Is this really the end?

All I can mutter
In the stillness of the moment
Is 'goodbye'
As my eyes grow heavy and shut

The darkness seeps in all around me now
And slowly close the last chapter of my life
In this painful dream
Of death
