A Walk On A Country Road Poem by Charles Hughes

A Walk On A Country Road

Rating: 5.0

A walk on a country road longingly beckons
Here where my stride is undaunted by the milling crowds
Here where I stroll free far from the incessant clamor
Harmony prevails; strife gives way, the subtle stirs anew
One can hear the welcoming rustle of the trees
Taking their cue from a gentle meandering breeze
Hear the birds' unfettered song heralding the new day
Hear the soft murmur of the brook clear and distinct
Babbling as it wanders and winds along its merry way
Feel the warm sensuous caress of the air so fragrant
The abundant displays of floral color pleasing to the eye
I visited nature's gallery and saw a landscape long ago rendered
Rendered by a renowned but somewhat forgotten artist and wonder why
And as I stroll I contemplate my next visit oh sweet by-and-by
