A Well Paid Traitor Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

A Well Paid Traitor

The promise made to keep us free,
Is traded now for vanity.
The pride we held in global peace,
Begins to fade and soon will cease.

He meets behind a closing door,
With those who seek to settle score,
To carve the map and slice the land,
With ink beneath a shaking hand.

The honor of a nation lost,
With no concern for what the cost.
A world of laws is cast aside,
With nowhere left for us to hide.

The ties to friends are cut away,
To chase a dark and hollow play.
A lonely crown, a broken vow,
He leaves our country empty now.
