Abandoned Poem by Stephanie Shelton

Abandoned

Abandoned
Replaced by that of equivalence
Plans broken by relations with the other
Found unjust, unmentionable

Retiring to previous ideals
Struck once again by fits of jealousy
All the while, pride and support
Time bound repetitively

Thrust in the face of an admirer
Forced to observe loss, hopelessness
There for another
That, it provides no return

Eternity
Found itself placed by choices
Ones who haven’t to turn back
Not, without the place of embarrassment

Chosen entirely from popularity
Yet left to choose from nothing
Nothing lifted to the standards of perfection
However, similar

Chosen to abandon the first choice
An upgrade
To that it cannot stand toward
Abandoned nor the admirer
