Ablaze - Poem by Harrison Wheeler

I am burning.

My life is like
that of a slowly dying
ember.

I want to lie down,
but instead,
I rise.
I am covered in
rays of fire.
I trust.

Yes, I am burning.
I don't know
where I'm headed, but
I do know everything
happens
for a reason.
I will keep breathing,
now and forever.
I will.

I, too, am burning.
Now I am tired and
lost.
There's no
place to go when it rains.
But will I let go?
I won't.

Still, I am burning.
I was yesterday.
I am today.
I will be tomorrow.

I am burning.
