About 27 Years In Jail Poem by Hebert Logerie

About 27 Years In Jail

About 27 Years in Hell
About 14,040 weeks in jail
About 18,890 days in a cell
In Robben Island, South Africa
Rolihlahla Madiba Mandela
Was a legend, a soldier, a martyr
And indeed a quintessential fighter.

About 14,040 weeks in a cell
About 18,890 days in Hell
About 27 Years in jail
The Prince of Peace
Got out of misery in one piece
Real liberator never dies
Real Hero never lies
He fought for the right reason
All the time, in all season.

About 18,890 days in jail
About 27 Years in a cell
About 14,040 weeks in Hell
It is too painful to count the hours
Madiba was our brother; he was ours
Mandela will not die in vain
We are sad, we are in pain.

Let’s not count the minutes
Let’s not calculate the seconds
Let’s put together our hands
To give our Hero the salutes
That he deserves in life and in death
Bring the wreaths and keep on having faith.
