Abyss Poem by Lola Sanchez

Inside me there's an abyss
a black hole of emotion
of unsaid needs
of swallowed pride
and tears held back

It's not that I don't love you
it's not that I don't want to share
but my mind and my heart
struggled to unlock

And when I do
my needs and frustrations
become all bumbled up
all wrinkled on the way from brain to tongue
they sound unwarranted
irrelevant
overly sensitive
petty

So I keep it in
swallow my tears
nothing is wrong
try to paste a smile
and hope to make you happy.
