Acceptance Poem by Emely Marie

Acceptance

Accept me for who I am
and who I have become
Realize that one day, very soon
that I will no longer be young

Though memories will not fade
My dependency will and you
will find yourself in need of me
much more than I am of you

Understand that I am
a work in progress
An unfinished story
in need of more pages

I question the truth of your love
Can you accept who I am,
who I have become
and who I will be?

For if your love is as true
as you tell me it is
then I shall already be accepted
for what I have not yet become
