Acid Rain Poem by Sam Burton

Acid Rain

Dwelling deep on my inside
you reached up slowly and chocked my pride
I struggled through the rain
gasping for air
What is this unfamiliar pain?
What's that sound of a tear?
It ripped into my soul
then a light gust of air pushed me down
helped me fold
its the same story I have always told

Lost consciousness for a while
The choking sensation deciding to subside
But not for a long time
I walked back, choosing to face the facts
and there you stood waiting
It suddenly started raining
I got locked in your eyes
Before I could spurt out whys
the choking coldness held me tight
you watched me turn white
and I fell to the ground once more
and allowed the rain to come

How much more pain will it take for me to learn?
Its the kind of rain that will always burn
The acid rain
