Who was before Adam?
Adam.
And who was before that Adam?
Adam.
And before him?
Adam.
Adam before Adam,
Adam before him—
an endless procession of Adams,
receding into the fathomless past.
Adam,
and Adam,
and Adam—
ad infinitum.
Where did the chicken come from?
The egg.
And where did the egg come from?
