Addicted Poem by John Hughes

Addicted

Addicted…..

You're swimming in an ocean, enormous waves filled with frustration.
You're drowning in your head again, consumed by desperation
Slowly going under, you're sinking with your motivation
You've spent most of your life chasing that ' my first time' sensation
The old you died ten years ago, buried by the disease's infiltration
You've lost another fight, first round knockout to temptation

You're void of self awareness, Dnt give a shit how you're perceived
Destroyed or lost any gifts from god in this life that you've received
If feels like you've been dying since the day you were conceived
And only when you're overdosing do you finally feel relieved

Clutching to a vice is you attempting to maintain
Same mistakes repeatedly, the definition of insane.
The monster in the mirror brings you nothing but disdain
Lifelessness and uselessness, not even worth the hurt from pain
Laying hopeless on the tracks, begging god to bring the train

Nothing seems to break this endless cycle of monotony
Anticipating anxiously, awaiting todays atrocity
A prisoner enslaved by your minds broken philosophy
But the blame is never yours
, the definition of hypocrisy

Your family is a memory, you forgot that they existed
They tried to pull you out but it was futile, you resisted
They were never gonna make you see no matter how much they insisted
You've lost any trace of consciousness, you're no longer conflicted
You sold your soul and lost your mind, the definition of addicted
