Adoring Love Poem by Clinton MacDonald

Adoring Love

It's like you're playing me in rewind, I'm starting to untwine
The waters that I'm treading in are oh so unfamiliar here
You're breaking the ice around this shell, that’s sentenced me to hell
The barriers that I've put up to keep me from falling in
Are crashing down around me here, you're more than I can bare
It’s like you’re the angel and the demon that wakes within my sleep

Am I dreaming now
Or just barely breathing
Every breath’s a pain
Every breath’s so sweet
I’m feeling once again
I’m feeling once again

You’re laugh’s undeniably addicting, far too much convicting
The tomorrow can’t come soon enough where you are by my side
And if your eyes see through me, I wonder what will be
A lion that you tamed or a lamb pretending to be more
Everything I hid inside, I’m learning has yet to die
I can’t believe that my eyes are open, only night can bring such feeling

Am I dreaming now
Or just barely breathing
Every breath’s a pain
Every breath’s so sweet
I’m feeling once again
I’m feeling once again

Now I hear the laughter in my ears, the gates are up no more fears
What a fool I’ve made of myself this go around
And so I settle within my head, and can’t wait until I’m dead
You’ve woken up the hate I buried in the ground
Don’t help me while I’m falling, I can hear the bottom calling
Such is only a thought when my eyes are closed, sleep’s my feeble reality
