Adult Mode Poem by Casey Jarrell

Adult Mode

The city keeps on glittering all through the night.
A little more, just a little more.
Tonight the mood shall change.

Lipstick and a new dress shall make the perfect coord.
Even though I will be punished for this,
I'll dance the night away in my favorite heels.

Keep on looking at me.
Mother doesn't know that I'm mature.
Being cute isn't enough, if you're not greedy too.

As the waves keep on rushing by, I would get an occasional look at me.
A little more, just a little more, this soon will fade away.

My mother's necklace and pale nails made the matching pair with these shoes.
This is so much more any fairytale.
My heart won't stop pounding, I just feel in love.

Keep on looking at me.
This girl doesn't know that I'm mature.
In order to stay ahead, just keep on working hard.
I want to be more appealing.
I can feel you're jealous of me.
The future shall change.
Just keep your eyes on me.

I'll keep on walking through the night.
That is my gift to you.
I will soon return to my home, but for now I want to be myself.

Keep on looking at me.
Mother doesn't know that I'm mature.
Being cute isn't enough, if you're not greedy too.
I want to be more appealing.
Nobody knows that I'm mature.
The child in me has already gone to sleep.

Twinkle night... Twinkle night (6x)
