Advice Poem by Shay Mitchell

Advice

Rating: 5.0

The advice my parents give me,
Is to wear a jacket so they won’t see.
My fresh, silky smooth mistakes,
But sooner or later they will all intake.
What scars I’ve carved in my arms,
Will always set off mental alarms.
They show all my choices,
Visible among their whispering voices.
My parents are so embarrassed,
About the addiction that I once cherished.
What they don’t realize,
Is that I’m sick of this disguise.
So as I walk through the crowd,
With my head held high.
I tell the disguise,
Hello goodbye.

The mistakes of yesterday are a vivid reminder of how far you have come, so be proud that you have put cutting behind you. I commend you for your courage. A strong poem full of vivid emotions, free-flowing and dark, yet beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
