Africa Poem by MIKE SANTIAGO

Africa

What is Africa to me a place of Antiquity?
Where warriors braved the desert sand
And pharaohs ruled throughout the land
A land so precious with diamonds and gold
People dying young and old

Kingdoms flourished far and near a people
Strong without any fear, a continent stricken
With poverty and sin, a people at war
Abiding within, what is Africa to me
The birthplace of humanity
