After A Long Day, I Wallow Away Poem by Julian Takali

After A Long Day, I Wallow Away

And you see old sport
I do understand
That our lives are quite short
Quite concise and abrupt
And that is why we should
Stare at the sunflowers
Get into squabbles
Fall in love
And out
Sleep until noon
Hide in the sylvan
Speak with dogs
Kiss the mirror
Then her
Or him
Spit on the sidewalk
Burp out of courtesy
Or lack
Walk naked to the bank
And back
Listen to symphonies
And drink
Lay back in bed
And think
This is what we should be doing
But, to free the body one must first liberate the capsule enveloping the mind
