Afternoon At San Pietro Poem by Celine Socrates

Afternoon At San Pietro

Tell me how must we begin to speak
about beauty what words to use
to talk about
colors diffusing into light
bursting into gold and copper
the surface of things losing their edges-
edging into flight
all the world hushed
by the cadence of silence
the echo of your footsteps
keeping ground yet
aching for ascent,
tell me is there
a parable for this
