Afternoon Tea Poem by Shelley Jones

Afternoon Tea

Apologies Gemima,
I opened the wrong box of Roses,
Forgetting it was Lent
And that we were off chocolate.
Here is a yellow Rose for you instead;
The Charles Darwin. It has
A wonderful lemony scent
And floral Tea.

I'm not sure what this means, is this an apology for not showing up on time, confused but enjoyed this.
