Against The Book Poem by Andytics mufc

Against The Book

Only armed with a dream
I would fearlessly battle you
From classrooms
To the library
From a hostel bed
To a toilet seat
I would wrestle you
Locking you to the cells of my brain
Confining every of your letter to the chambers of my heart

During those bloody skirmishes
You would...
Wound my eyes
Blight my vibe
And starve me some serious dose of fun
Have to confess
You suppressed an urge to fall in love in me
Like a yesterday's wound
Still fresh in my memory
Is that moment you almost broke me
You made me tear like a mischievous toddler after around of lashes

But giving up?
Losing to you?
Was a taboo to me
Never was it an option at any point
I never ceased to fight
Nail and teeth
Through thick and thin
To the last drop of my blood
I fought like a roman gladiator against a tiger

Like an unbelievable sweet dream
Today i clad in a gown
The hall thronged to the door
Explodes into a deafening round of applause
A thundering ovation
Finally i am awarded a well deservingly bachelors degree
A testimony of my triumph over you

As this moment rocks my world
I release
Never were you a sworn enemy
Nor anything worse than that
But rather you were a teacher
Who dished out a cardinal life skills lesson
That no road to success is an easy ride
