Against The Pain Poem by Chanel Jackson

Against The Pain

I'm sick and I’m tired
“And tired” always follows sick
I’m sick and tired
Of all the tears and pain
The never-ending list
Of the hurt and the slain
Is there really anything in this war to gain?

No more tears
No more pain

I’m sick and tired of the suffering I hear everyday
Every time I turn on the news
There’s always something bad they have to say
To hear something good, so much money I would pay

Everyday I cry
For this is everyone’s life
The hurt, big or small
We’re still victims of it all

Those who overcome it
They are the candles
Dimly lighting our life’s darkness
To see a genuine smile on one’s face
Makes better that time in space
