Aged Gogo Poem by Midifo Yearns

Aged Gogo

Rating: 5.0

Etched on face, like flavors in an ancient wine,
kindness lines anoint her eyes, and wisdom
glance bedecks her face, this aged Gogo, whose
lived from way back then, and still tells stories
that can shake the earth, caress a bruised and
battered soul, open up a charming way to be human.

She shuffles when she walks, squints her eyes
to see horizon’s growing speck, become arrival
to be welcomed, embraced and shaded from the heat
by giant mango tree. And then to penetrate, discover
who and what; discover why and when; touch the
secrets of a life, a heart that longs, a breast that fears.

She wipes away the tears and brings a smile
that carries years of pain savaged by the sun, to new
dawn, where faded hope can somehow be reborn
and treasures shared once more, for those who wait.
These special gifts that each one bears, are hidden,
till Gogo’s touch, invites and draws them, to light of day.
