All And All Poem by Maros van den Bergh

All And All

A creator
A clay-moulder
A critic
A judge
A jury
A lawyer
A prosecutor
A protector
A guardian
A pillow
A blanket
A house
A road
A punisher
A rewarder
A guide
A challenge
A barrier
A barrier-breaker
A push-over
A catcher
A harness
A mentor
A teacher
A student
A medicine
A placebo
A cure
A disease
A manual
A diary
A villain
A vigilante
A hero
All and all,
what a parent
should be.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Obviously it is a dedication to all parents and the difficult counter-acting roles imposed upon them when they seal the contract of parenthood. By far, it does not capture the full essence of parenthood, but I tried to highlight the decisions parents have to make to decide what's best for the child by summing up their associated roles.
I wrote this poem from my own perspective as a child, and in no way do I know what it is to be a parent, as I am not one myself. So if you are a parent, please comment whether my objective, to highlight a parent's decision, has been achieved or not.
Please suggest adds/edits and criticize.
