All Did It Poem by Dieury Dumas

All Did It

From the first black person
Who we will never know about
Who chose love over hate?
Who chose simplicity over difficulty?
Who chose peace over war?
Who chose hope over despair?

From Harriet Tubman
To Michael Jackson
From Martin L King
To Malcolm X
From Maya Angelou
To Tupac Shakur
From Jessie Jackson
To Jay-Z
From the Black Panthers
To the Freedom Fighters
All the believers
All did it.

All did it;
With a mix
With a ball
With a call
Will a talent
With a soul
With a speech
With a body
With a voice
With a cause
With a career
With a march
With a goal
With a poem
With a show
With a story
With a movie
With a dream
With a scream
With a team…
All did it
All we suffered
All we sweated
All we fought
Against them
Against a system
Black and White did it
Yes! We can
Yes! We did
Yes! We will.
All we enjoy it
Together we share it
The making of history
The building of legacy
The living of victory.
