Black Man: Poem by Dieury Dumas

Black Man:

Black Man! You are strong
Your life, games are on
Never, ever do wrong
Your legacy will go long
Way, through life and time.

All your life, the society
Did you bad in history
They said you was not a whole man
Over them you had victory
Now you are ruling humanity.

Enemy will put you down
Friend can turn you to clown
Society might be against you
You can turn them around
Conduct them like a crowd.

Black Man be on time
Commit no crime
You will do no time
Don't spend your time
Drinking beer and lemon-lime.

Black Man don't expect
None from the white man
If one day they accept
You as a real man
Please, be surprise.

Every one of your enemy
They are right outside
Watching, hoping, waiting
For you to fall
One mistake is a big deal
News network will lynch you
Police organization
Will be happy to put you into Jail
Don't try to be smart
Just be yourself; outsmart.

Black Man to make it in this life
You will have to live twice
Live for you and live for your color
You will have to work twice
Work for you and for your color
It is not what you know
Sometimes! It is who you know
It is not what you do
But for whom you do it
Black man be strong
In this life, you cannot do wrong
Just like they expect you to be another
Black man.
