All Hallows Eve Poem by Howard Osborne

All Hallows Eve

ALL HALLOWS EVE

The night of the pumpkin is nigh
Grow your own or you have to buy
Make a Jack o'Lantern or pie

It's a strange fruit, after all
That odd looking big orange ball
Held up high when making each call
Check for a light on in the hall
And get greetings, smiles or a sigh

The tradition of Halloween
What is to come and what has been
But so few know what it does mean
For most, trick or treat is the scene
It's witches and zombies, oh my

The month of October will end
Handing out candy is the trend
Just a night one cannot extend
It's such a strange message to send
With so few who really know why
