Candy Man - Poem by Roald Dahl

Who can take a sunrise, sprinkle it with dew
Cover it in chocolate and a miracle or two
The candy man, the candy man can
The candy man can 'cause he mixes it with love
And makes the world taste good

Who can take a rainbow, wrap it in a sigh
Soak it in the sun and make a strawberry–lemon pie
The candy man?
The candy man, the candy man can
The candy man can 'cause he mixes it with love
And makes the world taste good

Willy Wonka makes everything he bakes
Satisfying and delicious
Talk about your childhood wishes
You can even eat the dishes

Who can take tomorrow, dip it in a dream
Separate the sorrow and collect up all the cream
The candy man, Willy Wonka can, the candy man can
The candy man can 'cause he mixes it with love
And makes the world taste good

And the world tastes good'
Cause the candy man thinks it should

I'm trying to find out when he wrote this? Just a decade would be helpful! Thank you to anyone who replies. Reply

I love this poem! It sounds so sweet, and makes me want to eat candy. Although it sounds amazing, it does not sound like a poem by Roald Dahl. I was expecting some made-up words, or something funny, but this poem does not have that. Great poem, but does not fit Roald Dahl. Reply

  • Not a poem by Roald Dahl 9/6/2019 10:27:00 AM

This poem is in fact the lyrics to the song " Candy Man" which was featured in Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, but it was not written by Roald Dahl. The lyrics were written by Anthony Newley. Reply

This is a really good poem and i think that roald dahl has worked very hard to achieve this level. i absolutely loved it and i am at a loss for words as it is so good. Reply
