Alone Within My Past Poem by dino evans

Alone Within My Past

After all these years, I know that I have been the one
That's broken down, and wasted precious years
You, the everything I once thought of as mine
I've left you crying in a pool of tears

Tears I know you've cried for me, and those I've cried for you
Cannot be stopped now after what's been said
It seems the beating of my heart has ended much too soon
And left me with this pounding, in my head

I know you had to leave here, I know the reasons why
I wish you well, and hope you find the love
But I, am just a lonely soul that's left here on my own
My broken heart became the victim of

The victim of my own mistakes, to cause you pain again
I own them all, and they own me as well
Nightmares come to me, in lost and endless nights
How long am I to suffer? ...I can't tell

I'd hoped that these few lines to you, might ease your mind a bit
But as I write, I know that's just not true
I know you've given all you have, I took for granted this
And now I sit surrounded, without you....

Alone, within my past....
