Alterego Poem by inris nas

Alterego

Rating: 4.5

Background: I was reading through an article on behavior of another mammal and penned the following;

Reading through the characteristic brought in a wry smile
Am I reading about my self, yes, at least for a little while
Let's see the similarity of act;

Both of us will take any load, with just, just a little goad
Stubborn are we with the determination, to take the untraveled road
No doubting our intellect when we decide how to move
for both of us realize when the push is about to become a shove
Our friendly nature beats all provocation
So we don't enter easily into confrontation
Our patient attitude is sometimes construed as our laziness
Our stubbornness to do it right, looks like our craziness
A small pat on the back brings in the mighty grin
Aha the smugness on our faces seems so akin

I now beg forgiveness on behalf of one and all
who fail to realize the extent of this call
Aha, I can now proudly exclaim
Yes! Yes! Yes! I am a donkey, aren't you

PS: The Behavior part of the article is as below:

Donkeys are complex creatures, capable of many moods. They can be friendly, affectionate, independent, patient, and even sad, and there is no questioning their intelligence. But when a donkey would rather not do something, it can be the laziest and most stubborn creature in the world.
