Alternate Reality Poem by naux ner

Alternate Reality

Rating: 3.5

I never really had the urge
To live another life
I thought that things were meant to be
The way they've come to be

I never thought that I would find
Somebody else to care
Although I know it's too late now
It's hard for me to bear

If only we could turn back time
To force our paths to cross
Would the seasons that have passed us by
Stop for you and me?
In an alternate reality

I ask myself why now, not then?
How cruel time can be
The collision of two different worlds
With similarities

Our crossroads meet just at one point
Our paths diverge from here
Moving forward and apart
To futures we both fear

If only I could write the lines
In the pages of your life
Though the chapter's gone, you're moving on
I still feel you by my side
In an alternate reality

So carry on and don't look back
I'll try my best to hide
The distance will be just enough
Everything will be alright

Things will fade, the days will pass
I'll be a memory
Floating, drifting in your world
Like a boat lost in the sea

If only you would let me know
What's going on inside
Cos' it's much too late, I'm letting go
And I'll be satisfied
With an alternate reality
