it will always be there.
there will always be some way
for you to become more aware
of your mortality.
and as you get older
there will seem to be more,
more importance placed
on
being ware of various perils,
whether potential or
obvious.
there will be more
more
urgency to wear condoms,
more obligation
to put on the seatbelts,
more activities
begin to require helmets.
shots stop meaning small glasses
and start being
vaccinations.
there will always be more ways
to sanitize your life.
redundancy
is the key to
redundancy
eventually,
they won’t even be reasons for you.
you'll have children
and begin to see the entire world
wrapped in razor wire
waiting to lash out
and claim your offspring
for the graveyard
I hope
you don’t become too concerned
with creative ways
to delay your demise
that you don’t become
too soon
wise within your years
For your sake,
I hope there are many nights
sweating under the heavy white moon
with no net to speak of
I’d hate to see you
never have any fun
