Ambush Poem by Nick Bauer

Ambush

The unit is riding in the military truck
Telling stories of how they killed a buck
Then a road side bomb explodes
The soldiers read, react, their guns unload
Bullets whiz by, hit here, miss there
Running on adrenalin, still a little scared
The fight is over, the enemy is dead.
Wait, there is one more and he shot me in the head.
