An İDea About Our Life Here Poem by RIC BASTASA

An İDea About Our Life Here

we belong here
in fact we know the ins and
outs of the many doors
we open windows
and let light in
we know when to close
and when to hide
do not think that we
are different
we are all the same
breathing mechanisms
complete
with defenses and
offenses
do not be amazed
there are more to suffering
inside the room
when we cry we see to it
that no one hears

after all
it has always been our solemn
obligation to please
to deny
and then to confirm
what is not found here
and what is
supposedly
grand out there
