An Argument For Her Blunderer Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

An Argument For Her Blunderer

You're a blunderer, you say, but I beg to differ
So how do you speak of, of the several days and nights
When we stayed up talking, narrating our lives
With such zest and avidity, that twinkles in our eyes that
They flew out of our bodies, erupting into a breezy tingle?

How can you say you're a blunderer, when you're a giver
Giving me purpose when I was engulfed in shades of gray
When I was left cold and numb in the December rain?
Perhaps you are blinded by these secluding, painful mornings
To see what the night has given you; frail, little ol' me.

The ways of a blunderer falter and tilt life to ugly and askew
But my existence, just like the lights in this room, is an exhibit
Of the magnificence and sanguinity of your universe
That you have painted on the gray slates of my breath
When I thought blunders was all I could be, until you came.

Persistence and fervent arguments will never shake you off
If The Blunderer is what you are, then The Blunderer you shall be
But, pray tell, would this question of mine suffice:
If you were a blunderer, could I be your favorite mistake?
Perhaps, the last one too?
