An Evening Stroll Poem by Sandhya Suri

An Evening Stroll

I listlessly trudge
across the lush lawn,
the fiery ball
finally simmering
the surroundings
in tinges of pink.
Tears prick my eyes
years cloud my mind
conjure moments lived
now re-lived
the heart open, barricades down
letting them flow
releasing countless emotions
pushed away years ago
a black sheep in a corner
deep and hidden
now slashing
raw untended moments
rushed turmoil
...unaware, unprepared
those days appear
illuminating
long forgotten anguishes
then...
now...
once more
as the sporadic fiesta
sets wistfully
and I walk
barefoot on the grass
with memories
and a clouded vision.
