An Ode To Me Poem by Gregory Huyette

An Ode To Me

In that moment between undone and done,
I don't give a damn thought…not one.
Who cares about impacts of my words or deeds
As long as they serve my current wants and needs?
Why should I care when I'm not hurt.
It’s the rest of the world that must convert.
Those who don't agree aren’t my friends
Since they’re wrong and at opposite ends.
My only real friend and I are drawing nearer
As I more frequently stare at him in the mirror.
The more I gaze the more ways that I see
My best friend is the only thing that matters to me.
