An Oil Spillage Poem by GORDON BUTCHERS

An Oil Spillage

Another disaster
Another spoil,
A natural wilderness
Tarnished by oil.

A black slick stretches
Both far and wide,
Coating the beaches
Brought in on the tide.

Unsuspecting birds
Dive into the sea of death,
Washed up along the shoreline
Gasping for their last breath.

We see the misery
Suffering and pain,
But can we stop this scene of devastation
From ever happening again? .
