Anatomy Poem by Windsor Guadalupe Jr

Anatomy

Eyes, yes darling
I’ve eyes to stare
Through the impenetrable
Night that you cast
Over the stones
As you transmute the fires
To the rain.

Hands, yes darling
I’ve hands to hold your fire:
The pandemonium of your
Splendour
And the travesty of your
Colour
As you hold the paths
To sunder them.

Feet, yes darling
I’ve dandy feet of vim
To saunter behind you
Wherever you go,
I am a specter and I pluck
Your vestiges as you leave
Them cold on the concrete:
Muted yet still burning with
A passion
As you traverse in the pace
Of the stars.

Nose, yes darling
I’ve a nose to capture
Your essence, your scent
Of prolix apertures.
I’ve a nose to breathe in
What you perfectly breathe
Out
As you steal all of me
And sculpt it into frailty.

Lips, yes darling
I’ve skived lips that can outlast
The flames of your waters -
To give life to these utterances
That enamour you like
The riddle that flusters the youthful
Glow; the juvenile fortnight.
And you go forth, rummaging
Through the restive terrain.

Even these ears, darling
Long for your voice,
Your emollient symphony: a berceuse
Of the gods.
These ears hear your hoarse cries!
A bent yet theatrical pang.
A flamboyant rogue of the night.
I will listen evermore
As you wander through the night,
Hissing your allure.

I have all of me
To wager
In this gambit.
I need not a fair trade;
Just an eager sign
From your seas -
A marvelous acquiescence.
