Anchor Poem by Bolutife Asake

Anchor

On the sea of discontent
my ship my vessel of self and being
was tossed around ferociously
by the waves of hopelessness.
Whichever direction the turbulent winds blew
that's where I be spiraling deeper
into the whirlwind of loneliness.
My birds of prey,
the ants and worms of the earthly realm too
awaited patiently for my wretched soul to
succumb to the hardships of my fear and doubt.
Slowly I became a desperate man in need of a way out.
As the torrential rains covered my vessel
with its natural mixture of moisture.
I knew that with faith and perseverance
a new direction on the compass of life
would bring about an new awakening
and awareness of exposure. I realized that on
the seas of life journeys a ship can't sail through
tough times and possibly get to calmer waters
without some kind of stability. Out of the thick fog
and midst you suddenly appeared and navigated
my ship and vessel of self to the shores
of endless blessings, positivity and possibilities.
Like a beacon into the night you shine and
my faith was once again renewed and
restored bringing joy as I
never experienced before. Now
I have in you such beauty,
grace and strength from your
precious soul and whose sweet tender love
has truly become my anchor
