And I Thank You Poem by jess schwarcz

And I Thank You

Down came the rain,
With my never-ending tears.
Down came the pain,
Lighting up all of my fears.

No longer could I pretend.
My horrid life wouldn’t mend.
With all those questions of why,
Why can’t I just say goodbye?

I wanted it to end,
But only would it extend.
I couldn’t stand being stressed,
And it only progressed.

Only for me to overdose,
Hopping my life story would close.
My pain started to drain
When I knew I didn’t have a life to contain.

Somehow, someone found out,
And couldn’t help but shout.
Some said I was insane,
So they put me in restrain.

Through all those years,
And all of the shed tears,
Through all times that were fearful,
And I was nothing but doubtful,
Through all of the bad crimes,
I realized life could be worth it sometimes.

I was able to overcome the stress.
To some, they were very impressed.
They took away the trouble,
Showing me they could be helpful.

They helped set my life right,
Even when I gave up a fight.
They gave me back a lot.
And a better life is what I got.

I didn’t know what to do.
But you were there and knew,
And I thank you.
