And That Is How I Almost Met You Poem by Sandra Black

And That Is How I Almost Met You

I waited and waited
My tears I dried
My body I covered
I let no eye catch mine

I bent my knees in prayer
Hoped for a love so rare
Tread over murky waters
Crossed rivers I didn't dare

I heard a voice one day
That spoke of rhyme and reason
I followed him even then
Knowing it was treason

The words and I just matched
Twas like we were together patched
Not one line out of depth
Not one stroke out of breath

I dreamt he was just mine
I dreamt we had a good time
Alas but twas all a dream
Love wasn't for me deemed

When I thought all was lost
Then he would come looking for me
He would then be mine
And we would rhyme for eternity
