I Wish You Were Mine Poem by Sandra Black

I Wish You Were Mine

I wish you were mine
From the tips of your hair
To the nail on your toe
To depths of your heart
And every little pore

I wish you were mine
Can one own a Lion's lair
Can one reap what one didn't sow?
We are still miles apart
And I feel very sore

I wish you were mine
It is just not fair
Didn't God know
From the very start
I need you more and more

I wish you were mine
A feeling beyond compare
I could all my love show
A lost form this art
Being true to the one you adore

I wish you were mine
I said it now there
And am feeling so low
Shouting from the rampart
My strange and lonely lore
